Singer Eddy Kenzo has reignited months-old rumors of his relationship with Female Youth MP Phiona Nyamutoro, shortly after her appointment to the cabinet. Kenzo was quick to extend his congratulations to the youthful politician following the news of her new role as Minister of State for Minerals in the recent cabinet reshuffle.
The singer’s public display of support set off a flurry of commentary, with thousands of users revisiting previous rumors of a romantic connection between the two. Some netizens even went so far as to dub Nyamutoro “Mrs. Eddy Kenzo” and speculated about her as his “wife to be.”
These speculations initially surfaced online last year when Rodrigo Matyansi claimed that Kenzo and Nyamutoro were engaged in a secret relationship, alleging that she had gifted him a new car.
Nyamutoro responded to the post with a noncommittal stance, neither confirming nor denying the claims. However, she later clarified that while she has known Kenzo for many years, their relationship is purely platonic.
Beyond social media chatter, Nyamutoro has collaborated with Kenzo on a professional level, particularly in advocating for law reforms on copyright in Uganda. She notably presented a petition from the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), an organization led by Kenzo, on the floor of Parliament.
Honorable Nyamutoro, recognized as one of the youngest ministers, graduated from Makerere University in 2017, where she also served as Vice Guild President. As the National Female Youth Member of Parliament, she continues to make strides in her political career while maintaining her professional associations.
