Current Miss Uganda Hannah Karema has revealed that being called a Rwandese affected her and her only family.
Miss Uganda said that she felt very offended and thought people wouldn’t like her because she is not a Ugandan.
According to Hannah Karema he was born in Nakaseeke her mother died at a very young age but her father raised her to be the kind of woman she is at the moment.
She said she studied at different schools but all in Buganda and it was disheartening to hear people refer her to another nationality yet she is a Ugandan.
Although social media was referring to Hannah as Rwandese, people from Nakasekebwete were overjoyed by her contesting and ultimately winning the title.
“Participating in Miss Uganda has been quite a journey. The people of Nakaseke were overjoyed, as they had never had one of their own compete for the title before. Initially, I used to feel upset about the internet backlash regarding my nationality, which also didn’t sit well with my father but eventually I got used to that too,” Hannah Karema, Miss Uganda.
